State polls: Wanita PKR targets eight Selangor seats
KUALA SELANGOR - Wanita Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) hopes to propose eight female candidates to represent the party in the upcoming Selangor State Election.
Its deputy chief Juwairiya Zulkifli said the PKR wing had discussed and agreed to target eight Selangor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats.
"We have many female leaders who have the potential (to be featured as PKR candidates) in the state of Selangor.
“If in other states, we don't have enough seats, but in the state of Selangor we can give more than 30 percent," she said when speaking during the launch of the election machinery of Selangor Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) and Wanita wings at Padang Awam Kampung Permatang here on Friday night.
Juwairiya, who is also a member of the Bukit Melawati State Legislative Assembly, stated that the spirit of women in Selangor was high, allowing them to be elected as state poll candidates.
"We sincerely hope that the Central and state leaderships can provide the space and opportunities for women leaders in the state of Selangor, especially since we have already been (governing) here for three terms," she said.
Juwairiya said the Wanita PKR assemblymen in the state of Selangor demonstrated remarkable performance over the last three terms.
"We have proven our service to the people so that they continue to believe in choosing PH (Pakatan Harapan) in the election," he said.
