Joining Bersatu? Khairy to meet Muhyiddin next week
KUALA LUMPUR - Former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has announced that he will meet with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin next week.
Without revealing more details, the former Rembau MP said the meeting was to give his final decision, believed to be about the offer to join the party.
In regards to his recent meeting with Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Khairy stressed that the meeting was not to discuss any conspiracy or specific measures.
"Hisham (Hishammuddin) and I have known each other for a long time, actually. I joined politics through him. At that time, he was the Umno youth chief, and I was a young graduate. He was the one who brought me to Umno.
"Hence,my fight (for the party) alongside Hisham has been ongoing for a long time; whatever our next step is, it's not necessarily like what Shahril said before: "It's not necessary that you're following me in the next step. It's not necessary; I will follow Hisham in our next step." "There is no plotting or specific move or anything like that. "We were just catching up, asking about each other's situation. For now, there is no political plan, and I have informed Hisham that I will meet Muhyiddin next week to give my final answer.
"Let me save it for later," he said in the podcast 'Keluar Sekejap' with Shahril Hamdan, which was broadcast today.
It was reported previously that Muhyiddin had made an offer to Khairy to become a member of the Bersatu Supreme Council after getting approval from other party leaders.
Muhyiddin said there were two vacancies on the council.
Khairy was sacked from Umno earlier this year. - AWANI
