KUALA LUMPUR - Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reminded members of the coalition parties in the Unity Government not to hurt the hearts and feelings of the Malays.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman said this call was aimed at diminishing any suspicions among the coalition parties.

"Let there be no more statements that can upset any of us. To our friends, refrain from hurting the hearts and feelings of the Malays.

"Same goes to Umno as well, avoid words and actions that can cause dissatisfaction among our friends and allies," he said in his policy speech at the 2023 Umno General Assembly (PAU) held at Dewan Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL), today.

Also present were Pakatan Harapan chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, and the top leaders of the 19 coalition parties in the Unity Government.

Zahid stressed that the diversity of the country's multi-racial society was 'sunatullah', which is God's rule that needs to be obeyed together.

Adding further, he said that throughout the political adjustments based on the current political reality, including during the formation of the Unity Government since November 24 last year, the basic or fundamental issues related to Islam, Malays, and Bumiputera had never been challenged or attempted to be torn apart by any of their political partners.

"My hope is that this unity will erase any doubts between us," he said.
