SHAH ALAM - Kapar division of Umno Youth has called for an end to internal conflicts and the smearing of former Umno leaders who have made significant contributions to the country.

Kapar Umno division chief Affifi Aris said that every leader has their own contribution.

"Let's not deny it because they were our leaders in the government back then who had implemented policies that benefited the country.

"Even if they are no longer with us because they are taking a break, lost in the election, got suspended or sacked, we must persuade and invite them to join the party again," he said on Facebook today.

He acknowledged that Umno's influence has weakened, and it has failed to garner support from the community, particularly the Malays.

Therefore, he argued that bringing back former Umno leaders is crucial for the betterment of the party.

"It is for Umno as a whole and not for certain individuals. Put aside our differences for the time being.

"The most important thing right now is to restore the image and brand of Umno. To our leaders, please help because we, the young people, still love Umno and want to see Umno return to its glory in Malaysia's political scene," he said.

He also pointed out the importance of embracing Umno Youth chief Akmal Salleh's policy speech, urging all parties, especially the future leaders of Umno Youth and Puteri, to support it.

Earlier today, Akmal, in his policy speech, encouraged party members not to dwell on the party's past, but instead learn from it and revitalise the spirit of its members.

He emphasised that Umno's strength in the past was due to the contributions of its previous leaders and stressed that it is now the responsibility of the current generation to carry the torch.
