Local football player arrested for allegedly causing injury to girlfriend at hotel
PETALING JAYA - A local football player has been arrested on suspicion of causing injury to his girlfriend in an incident that took place at a hotel in the area.
The victim, who suffered injuries to her body, lodged a police report at 6pm yesterday.
According to Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, the incident is believed to have resulted from a misunderstanding between the couple.
The victim's phone was also destroyed during the altercation, he added
"The footballer was detained at a hotel in Petaling Jaya to facilitate the probe.
"The footballer, in his 30s, was later released on police bail," Mohamad Fakhrudin said.
Previously, it was reported that a former national football player, who is still active in a popular team, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a recent dispute between the couple.
The victim sustained bruises on her hands and sought treatment at a private clinic.
The case is being investigated under Section 323/427 of the Penal Code.
