KUALA LUMPUR - The Umno Youth has called on the government to blacklist the Singapore-born comedian, who tacitly joked about the MH370 tragedy in one of her stand-up shtick, from ever entering Malaysia.

The demand was aired Umno Youth Chief Dr Muhammad Akmal Salleh who claimed that the joke by Jocelyn Chia - who was revealed to have already relinquished her Singaporean citizenship - was deeply insulting.

On top of that, Dr Akmal also announced that Umno Youth will be organising a gathering in front of the US Embassy in KL, tomorrow (June 9) at 2:30PM to protest against Chia who is currently residing in US.

“To all Umno Youth members, I urge everyone to go to the street and protest on what she has done to us,”

“I also instructed our excos to lodge a police report about this issue,” he said in keynote address delivered at the wing's 2023 general meeting at the party HQ, here, today.

Chia had drawn the ire of Malaysians yesterday when a video clip of her joke, told at the Comedy Cellar in Manhattan, New York, had gone viral across social media.

Apart from the MH370 joke, Chia also quipped how Singapore became a first-world country, whereas Malaysia is still a developing country.

"Malaysia, what are you now, still a developing country? F--k you, Malaysia. Isn’t that the best breakup revenge,” she said.
