KUALA LUMPUR - The curtains of the Umno Youth general meeting today were raised against the backdrop of the bellows of ‘malu apa bossku’ chant popularised by jailed former party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

To further pay homage to Najib’s contributions to the party, the wing honoured him with the ‘Anugerah Tokoh Pemuda’ award, which was accepted by his son, Datuk Nizar Mohd Najib, who is also a delegate of the wing.

Upon receiving the award on behalf of his father, Nizar shed tears as a video montage recounting Najib’s journey in politics and Umno.

Najib is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence after he was found guilty – on August 23, 2022 – of criminal breach of trust, abuse of power, and money laundering involving RM42 million belonging to SRC International.

The award was presented by Umno Youth Chief Dr Muhmmad Akmal Salleh and Umno Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
