'I want to focus on a career outside politics' - Shahril Hamdan
NOR SYAMIRA LIANA NOR ASHAHASHAH ALAM - "So far, my stand is that I'm not going to rush into anything just yet. I want to focus on life outside of politics," said former Umno information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan.
He said he has the right to make any decision he wants after being suspended by Umno.
"So far, I have no intention of contesting the state election, let alone joining any other party.
"I hope that there will be a choice for me tomorrow in making decisions for the coming years," he said on the 'Keluar Sekejap' podcast on Monday.
Umno previously sacked several of its members, including former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Tanjong Karang Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar.
In addition to that, Umno also suspended the membership of several other leaders, including former vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Shahril Sufian, for six years.
Meanwhile, Shahril Sufian insisted that he refused to live based on the impressions and expectations of others.
"I hope to be able to do things like Khairy who does things his way.
"I want to do something right. In this case, I need time to be able to choose the best for myself," he said.
At the same time, he also described Khairy as a leader who is open and confident about his abilities.
Shahril Sufian shared that there are leaders who suppress others when they see them as threats, but the former Rembau MP does not display such an attitude.
