Umno General Assembly will focus on water issue in Kelantan and claims that Penang belongs to Kedah

PONTIAN - The upcoming Umno General Assembly (PAU) is set to address the primary concerns surrounding the states that will soon hold the election.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the delegates' speeches would focus on various issues, including the water problems in Kelantan and the disputed ownership of Penang by Kedah.

The intention behind highlighting these issues is to provide Umno members with valuable insights that can be utilised during their campaign for the impending state election.

"The delegates from Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah have the opportunity to raise concerns specific to their respective states.

"For example, in Kelantan, the lack of water supply is a pressing issue. Additionally, there are allegations that Kedah intends to claim Penang.

"Delegates can address these examples and other pertinent problems faced by the people," Ahmad Maslan explained.

It was previously reported that Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor claimed Penang still belongs to Kedah, implying no border between the two regions.

Meanwhile, Kelantan continues to grapple with an ongoing water supply issue, leading the state government to request RM8 billion from the federal government.

The Pontian MP also expressed hope that the party's wings would leverage the PAU to devise strategies to engage and attract young and new voters in the forthcoming state election.

"The upcoming PAU must serve as the launching pad for the state election. As PAU is scheduled prior to the state election, it allows Umno members ample time to prepare for what is expected to be a fiercely contested election.

"As a component party in the Unity Government, Umno is obligated to support the candidates in their bid to triumph in the state election, thereby fortifying the 19-party coalition government," he added.
