Muda hopes for more seats to contest in state polls
SHAH ALAM - Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has expressed their hope to be given more seats to contest in the upcoming state elections (PRN).
Muda Wangsa Maju Deputy Chairman Wymann Liew added that if the party receives more seats to contest in the elections, especially in urban areas, it will give them a higher opportunity to win because Muda is a multi-racial political party.
"Muda led by Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is a multi-racial party; we are accepting Malaysians regardless of religion, race, or nation, and we used data to push our fights forward," Liew told Sinar Daily at Karangkraf Complex today.
On the approaches that will be used to contest in the state polls, he added that Muda will use a multi-level approach to attract voters of various ages.
"We are using multiple channels; we will go down to the ground to visit the areas and the communities there.
"Hence, the best approach to attract voters is to appeal to all Malaysians, young and old. We will also use social media to stay updated.
"Since long before, Muda has been using social media as our biggest method to approach voters. We believe that we can get the information across because not only youth are using social media but also everyone.
"I have friends who are between the ages of 60 and 70 who use TikTok and Twitter to get the latest information," he explained.
Meanwhile, Muda Federal Territory Communication Head Shah Fariq Aizal urged Malaysians to fully understand and study the Rukun Negara for the sake of the country's progress.
"As anak muda (youth), if we are ready for politics, Why not let the youth lead the country? Come and join Muda. Politics is a long marathon; we should take it slowly.
"There's time for us to grow and shine; we should not be moving fast; we need to find a narrative. Definitely, let them (political veterans) play their games, but there’s time for 'Anak Muda' to shine," Shah assured.
Earlier, former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Tan Sri Isa Samad returned to Umno, as announced by the party's secretary-general, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Isa was the Menteri Besar for five terms from 1982 to 2003, where he was succeeded by Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who helmed the state leadership post for three terms from 2004 until 2018.
Barisan Nasional and Umno lost the state in GE14 to Pakatan Harapan.
