PETALING JAYA - A traffic cop from the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) was fined for parking in a motorcycle lane in a disabled parking area.

Earlier, a video and photo went viral on Twitter showing a Honda ST 1300 bike locked by a security guard of an apartment in Petaling Jaya at 11.30am last Monday.

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division from Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) had issued a ticket to the officer who rode the motorcycle.

"We detected a viral photo that was uploaded by the owner of the Twitter account," he said in a statement today.

Fakhrudin said that his party will not compromise with road users including law enforcement officers who do not comply with rules.

"Strict action will be taken against those who violate the law. Road users are advised to always obey the road signs," he said.

In the viral video and photo, the traffic policeman was seen waiting for the security guard to unlock his motorcycle in the residential area. Once the motorcycle was unlocked, the policeman left the scene.
