Sarawak Deputy Minister assaulted outside residence, police launch manhunt
KUCHING - A Sarawak Deputy Minister was viciously assaulted by four unidentified assailants outside his family's residence in Tabuan Jaya.
The attack occurred around 9pm as the victim returned home after visiting his family in preparation for the upcoming Gawai celebrations.
According to reports, while passing through a tunnel in the area, the Deputy Minister encountered a group of individuals near the roadside who were in a vehicle. Curious about their presence, he decided to approach them and inquire about their intentions.
Unfortunately, the situation quickly escalated into a heated altercation. The group of men turned aggressive, assaulting the Deputy Minister before swiftly fleeing the scene.
The victim was sent to the hospital and a police report was subsequently lodged.
Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri, when contacted by Astro Awani confirmed the incident and efforts have been made to track down the suspects. - AWANI
