SHAH ALAM - DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng urged Penangites to lodge a police report against Menteri Besar Kedah Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for his claims that Penang belong to Kedah.

Lim said Sanusi's claims has brought dissatisficton among 1.8 Penangites, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Minister in Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Ramkarpal Singh.

"Police reports should be lodged by 1.8 million Penangites to press for action against Sanusi to protect Penang and prevent “political interlopers” from invading our state to ensure that we can continue our lives peacefully and enjoy prosperity.

"By provoking and questioning Penang’s sovereignty and right to exist as a state, Sanusi is a public danger to the peace and security of the nation," he said in a statement.

Commenting further, Lim said Anwar highlighted that even Kedah Sultan did not dispute Penang’s right to exist as a state when the Sultan had consented to the Federal Constitution which recognises Penang as one of the 13 sovereign states in Malaysia.

"This is not the first time Sanusi is making such an outrageous and false claim against Penang. Sanusi had publicly said that he doubted the sovereignty of Penang and the right of Penang to exist as Penang should be under Kedah.

"In response, the Penang state assembly had passed a unanimous motion condemning Sanusi for doubting Penang’s sovereignty.

"Sanusi is clearly intent on leveraging on this false claim to gain extra political mileage in the coming state elections," Lim said.

Lim added that Penang Pas should not contest in the coming state elections if they cannot fully represent the interests of Penangites as well as defend, protect and preserve the Federal Constitution.
