SHAH ALAM - There is still no response from the United States, despite Al-Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh being an American passport holder.

The Asia-Middle East Centre for Research and Dialogue Palestine Studies Circle coordinator, Muath Seyam, commented that it’s been more than one year since the death of Shireen, but nothing much has been done to seek justice for her.

The irony about Shireen is that she’s an American and a Christian Palestinian. She was a US passport holder; however, nothing has been done by the Americans.

"We don’t see any tangible process regarding any investigation. Al Jazeera also presented to the International Criminal Court; however, nothing has been done yet," he said on the Sinar Daily Podcast: The Palestinian Diaries: Silencing the 'Voices of Palestine'.

Muath further elaborated that Israeli forces have attacked a funeral procession for a Palestinian American journalist shot dead this week, kicking and hitting people with batons and causing mourners carrying her coffin to lose balance and drop it to the ground.

"They don't care about the regulations," he stressed.

Author and human rights activist Puan Sri Norma Hashim who was alsp on the podcast added that, basically, the people around the world do feel something; they feel upset as well.

"However, when it comes to the politicians and government, they are not doing their job or they are feeling like they have been pressured by the Zionists in the US," Norma added.
