Seeing beyond sight: UiTM students champion the national blind football team
SHAH ALAM - A friendly futsal game between Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) United and Harimau Buta, the Malaysian vision impaired football team has left a lasting impression on the university students.
The tournament which was organised by UiTM final year public relations students under PRime Agency was to gather finances through in-kind and through monetary donations for the Blind Football Association of Malaysia (BFAM).
Harimau Buta, the Malaysia will be representing our country in the upcoming ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia this June.
The PRime Agency head of project, Nelly Natasha MD Khalili, commented that working with the national vision impaired football team was an honour that PRime Agency treasured, and they truly appreciated collaborating with its outstanding coach, Sunny Shalesh, to make this event a reality.
"We were truly amazed by the impact of the event, which surpassed our expectations. The crowd had an enjoyable time throughout the night, filled with laughter and even tears of joy as they witnessed the passion and determination of the visually impaired athletes.
"It was truly heartwarming to see the profound effect that their performances had on everyone present.
"We were informed that many of the attendees witnessed such sports for the first time, and it was truly an eye-opening and inspiring experience for them.
"The exhibition match between Harimau Buta and UiTM United was a remarkable highlight, showcasing the talent, skill, and determination of blind footballers while fostering unity and camaraderie among players and spectators," she added.
