Remand order extended for the man who killed and set his pregnant girlfriend on fire

KUALA SELANGOR - The remand order of a man suspected of murdering and burning his girlfriend who was four months pregnant in a oil palm plantation in Kampung Sungai Limau, Sungai Besar has been extended for five days until Friday.

Sabak Bernam district police chief Superintendent Agus Salim Mohd Alias ​​said the extension was granted by the Kuala Selangor Magistrate's Court today.

He said the remand period that ended today was extended because the case is still under investigation according to Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"We will refer the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office for prosecution," he said when contacted today.

The suspect had appeared in court under the strict supervision of police officers, at about 8.10 am.

Meanwhile, Agus in his statement asked the public not to issue any false statements on social media regarding the case.

He stressed that circulating speculations will only interfere with the ongoing investigation.

"The police will not hesitate to open investigation papers on the individual under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he stressed.

Yesterday, Sinar reported that the police will request to extend the remand order against the suspect of this case today.

Last Thursday, the police confirmed that they had recorded statements from 10 individuals to help in the investigation.

Previously, it was reported that the 21-year-old victim was killed on May 22 believed to be by her boyfriend who wanted to keep the pregnancy a secret after it was conceived out of wedlock.

The victim's remais was found the next day after the police received a distress call at about 8.15am.

Police had arrested the 20-year-old suspect on the same day at his house in Sungai Besar, Sabak Bernam.
