UiTM to have third campus in Kelantan
KOTA BHARU - Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Kelantan plans to turn an empty building worth more than RM350 million located in Lembah Sireh here into its third campus.
UiTM Kelantan rector Prof Dr Abdol Samad Nawi said the building could accommodate approximately 7,000 students and would be equipped with hostels, lecture halls as well as a shopping centre.
"The paperwork for this project has been sent to the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN). If the project is realised, we will have two campuses in Kota Bharu and I hope it can be implemented as soon as possible," he told reporters at the ‘Selangkah ke UiTM 2023’ expo at Bazar Tok Guru here today.
Commenting further, Abdol Samad said that with the existence of the new campus, it would be able to focus on post-graduate studies, namely master's and PhDs, as well as attracting the attention of international students.
"We also plan to attract international students including from Indonesia, Thailand, China and so on to further their studies in this state," he said.
Meanwhile, Abdol Samad said the Kota Bharu campus would offer a new postgraduate programme, namely Master of Business Analytics starting October.
"This programme is a combination of two faculties, namely the Faculty of Business and Management as well as the College of Computing, Informatics and Media, which will be offered on a full-time and part-time basis.
"Students who graduate will receive two certificates, namely a master's degree and a professional certificate from RapidMiner USA,” he added. - BERNAMA
