SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has questioned Pakatan Harapan's (PH) choice to remain silent on the issue of the littoral combat ships (LCS) development costs.

The Pasir Mas MP urged PH leaders who were previously vocal about the LCS scandal to push the government in revealing the truth.

“I have asked the questions in Parliament regarding the price of each LCS. The Deputy Defence Minister (Adly Zahari) at the time did not give us an accurate answer.

“Today, it was revealed that the LCS costs increased to over RM11 billion compared to RM 9 billion. RM2 billion of the public’s money is wasted without anyone taking the responsibility.

“Those in PH who previously brought up the LCS issue, don’t stay quiet, press them until those responsible are brought to justice,” he said in a Facebook post, today.

Previously, it was reported that Boustead Holdings Berhad (BHB) revealed that the overall project costs have increased to 11.2 billion following its subsidiary company Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (BNS) signing six additional contracts with the government.

The project was claimed to be the largest defence procurement in the country’s history, first gaining the attention last year after the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) revealed none of the six ships were completed despite the government having spent a total of RM6.08 billion on the project.
