KLUANG - A durian trader at Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang, here, was left devastated after a "customer" ran off with 80 kilogrammes (kg) of durians worth RM2,500 from the stall without paying.

Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said a man in his 40s has been arrested over the incident with a four-wheel drive vehicle loaded with the stolen durians at Taman Desa Baiduri, Kulai at about 12.30am today.

"The 38-year-old trader said the suspect came to the stall and said he wanted to buy all the durians at the stall at about 5.30pm on Friday.

"After negotiating with the owner of the stall on the price, they reached an agreement before the durian trader weighed the fruits and loaded them onto the pickup vehicle used by the suspect,” he said in a statement, today.

However, after almost completing the order process and asked to pay RM2,500, the suspect just hopped in the vehicle and left without making any payment.

Bahrin said it was found that the suspect had 10 past criminal records, four of which were related to criminal activities and six drug-related cases.

"Investigation is still ongoing and the suspect has been remanded for four days until Wednesday.

"The case is being investigated according to Section 420 of the Penal Code," he said.
