Mohamad Ezam confirms to contest Klang in state polls
SHAH ALAM - Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) deputy president Datuk Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor confirms he will be contesting in Klang, Selangor in the upcoming state election.
The former Umno and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leader will be responsible for leading the party's machinery in the state.
"At first, I was reluctant, as I never contested for the state assembly. I was never active in state politics.
"During the reform era, I had only prepared to help the first Selangor Chief Minister Dr Ghazali Basri as his deputy, as well as the late Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as his deputy when he led Selangor.
"I have finally accepted my responsibility towards the party and the state I was born in.
"The party saw the need to provide voters an alternative to the two major coalitions clashing currently," he said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
He added that winning or losing is a small matter in the struggle, as he will not be shaken to go to jail or die for it.
He stated it was due to upholding and defending the principles of his struggles without compromise against the corrupt elite, which supersedes everything.
PRM election bureau chief Zainol Arif Jamaludin previously informed me that, based on the latest developments, the party has decided to make Selangor its main focus in state elections other than Penang.
He said the full list of candidates, seats, and work focus, as well as the people’s issues, would be brought by PRM to Selangor soon and would be informed before the state assembly dissolution.
