Umno supreme council accepts Ahmad Maslan's explanation over vote for DAP candidate issue
KUALA LUMPUR - The Umno supreme council has accepted its member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan's explanation regarding the call for party members to vote for DAP candidates in the upcoming state election.
The party's supreme council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said this was because the party wanted to maintain the unity government until the end of term.
"Ahmad explains that it was actually to support the unity government. That's all.
"He didn't even mention DAP. So we have accepted his explanation. We want the unity government to remain until the end of term," he said after attending the supreme council meeting at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
Previously, it was reported that Ahmad had urged Umno voters to vote for DAP candidates in their respective areas to strengthen the unity government.
He added that it was necessary to follow the party's discipline in the unity government.
