BENTONG – Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman urges Local Government Development Ministry and local councils in the country to develop clear guidelines on operations to catch stray dogs.

She said this was to prevent unwanted incidents, such as disagreements that could lead to worse incidents and fights between local council enforcement officers and residents or individuals who feed wild dogs.

She said this following an incident when an 85-year-old man died at Taman Saga in Bentong, Pahang, while he allegedly tried to prevent municipal council officers from catching his dog on Wednesday.

“I have visited the man’s family and extended my condolences.

“I do not wish to elaborate further on the incident. Police and Bentong Municipal Council would release a statement regarding the incident,” she said in a statement.

Young Syefura also asked the media to give space to the family of the deceased and stop speculating about the incident.

A local portal earlier reported that Huang Yunhong collapsed when we tried to prevent the officers from catching his dogs which were outside of their home.

He was pronounced dead minutes later.
