Police probing alleged involvement of secret societies in bully case

GEORGE TOWN - Police are conducting further investigations including whether there is an involvement of a secret society in bullying cases at a secondary school in Butterworth and a lower secondary institution of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) in Balik Pulau near here.

Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said his department was also completing the investigation papers for the three cases before handing them over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions.

"Regarding the bullying cases at a secondary school and lower secondary institution in Mara, arrests have been made and police bail granted, however, we are also investigating whether the case involves the secret society.

"If it is true, we will take action against the secret societies involved in the bullying cases in the schools," he said during a press conference at the Penang Police Headquarters here today.

He was asked to comment on three recent cases of bullying which had led to the arrest of 14 school students.
