KUALA LUMPUR - The police have detained the owner of a Facebook account who is accused of sharing a photo featuring a woman with the word "Allah" tattooed on her body.

Royal Malaysian Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the 46-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday in Gombak, Selangor.

"We also have confiscated a mobile phone along with its SIM card as part of the investigation," she said in a statement today.

Noorsiah said that the Classified Crime Investigation Unit of Division D5 within the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department is currently conducting an investigation under Section 298A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"The suspect was remanded for three days starting today (Wednesday) until Friday to assist in the investigation.

The public have been advised against posting or circulating any content on social media platforms that touches upon sensitive matters related to religion, race, and royal institutions.

"Strict action will be taken against any individual who deliberately threatens the public order and safety," she said.
