KOTA BHARU - A hotel staff was left in a state of shock upon encountering a dead man lying in a parking lot.

The staff who wanted to remain anonymous said he saw the body at 9am while conducting routine monitoring of the hotel premises, adding that he could smell a strong and unpleasant odor emanating from the vicinity.

“I thought a cat or dog died at the parking lot.

“I followed the stench and was shocked to find a body at a hidden area of the parking lot,” he said.

The 43-year-old hotel worker called the police immediately.

Kota Bharu Fire and Rescue Department Chief Zukeri Shafie said a team of 10 personnel, along with necessary machinery were deployed to pump the water out of the area where the body was discovered.

Three hours later at 6.30 pm, the body was retrieved and was sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud when contacted confirmed the incident.
