Pas never neglected development, people's needs - Hadi Awang 

SHAH ALAM - Political observers, including academicians who belittle Pas's struggle to uphold Islam and who state that the party seemingly does not care about the welfare of the people in the state it governs, are politically immature.

Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang also said that these people didn't take into account that the Pas government is also working hard politically based on tabii (righteousness).

Its president, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, said that they also did not take into account that the PAS government was also working hard politically according to human nature, which is obliged to take care of the needs of the people's livelihood.

"But Pas faces many obstacles from the federal government. All financial matters must by law follow the Federal Constitution, the agreement, and the principles of democracy, but all these were neglected.

"The royalty from petroleum is not denied for Sarawak and Sabah but is denied for Pas-run states.

"Is this because of the Islamic principle held by Pas? This denial of financial funding has also affected other Pas states such as Terengganu, Kedah, and Perlis," he said via a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Hadi said Pas can prove the principles of integrity and good governance even with limited financial resources.

He said Umno Barisan Nasional, which is now with DAP, had governed Kelantan from 1978 to 1990 and had financial resources but was not able to resolve any issues.

""Why weren't the issues solved? When Pas took over the administration, we faced many issues and obstacles, or bureaucracies, that were delayed.

"They didn't do this to Singapore when it was part of Malaysia then, now with Penang. Pas never forgets.

In 1990, Pas shut down gambling premises and only allowed the sale of alcohol to non-Islamics.

"As the licencing is under the purview of the Finance Ministry, the minister is the Prime Minister, who uses the Madani slogan, but he has never helped or acted in accordance with Islam," he added.

"However, PAS will remain steadfast in carrying the message of Islam and realise that it is obliged to fulfil its obligations towards all material development without having to announce it.

"This is so because, indeed, the development of the material is a natural thing that must be carried out if there are sufficient financial resources," he said.
