'Umno's former 'warlords' better stop being flies and spreading lies'

JOHOR BAHRU - Former 'warlords' who are still in Umno or are now suspended from the party need to stop fighting and trying to mislead grassroot members about Umno's position in the Unity Government.

Johor Umno secretary Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman said the attack carried out by the former 'warlord' and his accomplices is seen as stabbing the party internally which is not beneficial to the party, but instead gives a bad perception of the party

"They continue to fight and try to mislead grassroot members about Umno's position in the Unity Government.

"Some accused Umno of having been bought, some said that Umno had been made to obey others' wishes and some claimed that Umno had been subjugated by DAP.

"They said Umno's future is getting dimmer and will be buried before the 16th General Election (GE16)," he said in a statement on Monday.

According to him, it is not surprising if the attack comes from the opposition, but it is strange when there are former 'warlords' who are still in Umno or suspended by the party and continue to attack party leaders.

"I want to ask what is the benefit if you attack your own people and party? What benefit do you get if you continue to undermine the unity of its members and the party?

"Are you still unable to accept the fact that your wish to be with PN government is not fulfilled, so you hate Umno who is on board the Unity Government?" he asked.

On Friday, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan was reported to have said that Umno voters should choose a candidate from the unity government in the state elections regardless of which party the candidate is from, including DAP.

On Sunday, Johor Umno Youth leader Noor Azleen Ambros insisted that Umno does not need to be the official spokesperson for other parties.

Commenting further, Abdul Halim wanted the group that is still disappointed in the party and still cannot accept the reality that Umno is now cooperating with other coalition parties in the Unity government to sit quietly and not cause problems.

"Just because your wishes were not fulfilled, you make Umno and its leaders a place to vent your anger. Your actions do not benefit the members and the party, but give a bad perception of the party in the eyes of the public.

"If you can't help the party, just sit back and rest. If you can't be the salt, don't be the flies that spoils the fish," said the Tebrau Divisional Umno leade
