Support for Perak Menteri Besar still strong, rumours to overthrow state government untrue claim assemblymen
IPOH - Some members of the Perak State Legislative Assembly have confirmed that Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad will hold an emergency press conference together with 32 state assemblymen who support the government before the start of the state assembly on Monday.
Behrang assemblyman, Salina Samsudin, said the results of the special press conference were held to clarify the allegations made by the State Opposition leader, Razman Zakaria, that there were several assemblymen who met with the Perak Pas Commissioner, amidst speculation that there was movement to overthrow the Unity Government.
He said that the press conference led by Saarani was aimed at proving that the spirit of togetherness among assemblymen, especially the nine BN assemblymen, is very strong.
He also rejected any possibility of a vote of no confidence in Saarani's leadership as Menteri Besar that might be presented by any state assemblyman at the state assembly.
"Tomorrow morning (Monday) before the DUN session (takes place), we (DUN) will have a press conference. All BN assemblymen will be present.
"So there will not be (any motion) a vote of no confidence (put forward) by the assemblyman at the DUN session tomorrow.
"This special press conference also aims to show that all BN government assemblymen support the Menteri Besar and the administration of the Unity Government," he told Sinar.
He commented on Razman's claim that there were several state assemblymen who met with him when there were rumors of a movement to overthrow the Unity Government.
The Gunong Semanggol assemblyman said that he was personally approached by these assemblymen, however he refused to reveal the number and names involved.
Before that, Saarani expressed confidence that the state's Unity Government would remain until the end of the term ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16).
According to him, he himself has received feedback from all assemblymen after hearing rumors that the state government will change in July.
The Kota Tampan assemblyman explained that Perak also passed the Anti-Party Jumping Enactment in December last year which prohibits elected representatives from party jumping.
In this regard, he is confident that the assemblymen will conduct secret plots as they will lose various facilities and their chance to contest the same seat in the next state elections,
Meanwhile, Salina revealed that a check with Perak BN assemblymen found that none of the party's assemblymen had contacted Razman as claimed by the Pas leader.
"He (Razman) should have stated directly, who were the PH assemblymen or the BN assemblymen who met him. Not play guessing games ," he added.
In the meantime, another BN representative from Chenderiang state assembly, Choong Shin Heng also confirmed that Saarani will hold a press conference before the state assembly meeting to explain the ongoing speculation of a move to topple the Perak State Unity Government by certain parties.
"Yes, the Menteri Besar will make further explanations regarding this matter (speculation of the fall of the state government) at a press conference in conjunction with the DUN session tomorrow.
"Whether the announcement is urgent or not, we will just wait for his statement," he explained.
