'I am taking a break' Azmin denies contesting in S'gor state polls
NUR FAKHIRA JAAFARSHAH ALAM - Former Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said he is taking a break instead of contesting in the upcoming Selangor state election.
Azmin denied news reports that he would be contesting in Morib, adding that he would stick to his decision to take a break from politics.
“I have announced before that I want to take a break. I have served seven terms, one term in Ulu Kelang, three terms in Bukit Antarabangsa, and three terms in Gombak,” he was quoted in FMT at the PN Hari Raya open house today.
He also said he wanted to give young candidates in Perikatan Nasional (PN) a chance.
Earlier this year, Selangor PN had said that Azmin could be the opposition’s Menteri Besar candidate if the coalition wins in next state election.
Therefore, when asked if he would compete per the party's request, he said he would leave it to the wisdom of PN leadership.
Azmin added that there were no official discussion regarding the matter, just casual discussion.
