No order to close, shorten school's hours due to Selangor water supply disruption

SHAH ALAM - No order has been issued to close schools or shorten its operating hours due to water disruption in Shah Alam, Klang and Kuala Selangor from Monday to Wednesday.

Representative from Parent and Private Community Involvement (PIBKS) Petaling Perdana District Education Officers (PPD) Datuk Mohamad Isa Ishak said school will operate as usual since there has been no instruction or notification given by PPD on the matter.

"So far there is no instructions from any party or PPD. This means school will operate as usual.

"The school should not issue any order without getting approval from PPD," he told Sinar today.

He said this to comment on the possibility of schools closing due to water disruption starting tomorrow.

Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statementsaid 99 areas in Klang, Shah Alam and Kuala Selangor will experience unscheduled water supply disruptions following emergency repair work after a burst pipe in Jalan Bukit Cerakah, Bandar Puncak Alam.

The repair work is expected to be completed by 3am on May 23 (Tuesday) and the water supply is expected to fully recover by 9pm on May 24 (Wednesday).

When asked about preparation to face the water disruption, Isa, the former Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) president at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seksyen 7 said the school have made early preparation in case of an emergency.

"According to past experiences, schools will usually provide water barrels for emergency use while students have to bring their own drinking water.

"But we will see first how the situation is tomorrow. We are also be waiting for further instructions from PPD," he said.
