Selangor water supply at 99 areas to be restored by Wednesday night, say authorities
SHAH ALAM - Water supply to 99 affected areas in Klang, Shah Alam, and Kuala Selangor expected to be fully restored by 9pm on Wednesday following emergency repair works of a burst pipe in Jalan Bukit Cerakah, Bandar Puncak Alam.
Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statement said that the repair work, starting at 9am on Monday, will cause unscheduled water disruptions in three areas.
"The repair work is expected to be completed by 3am on Tuesday and the water supply will be restored in stages.
"The water supply is expected to be fully restored at 9pm on Wednesday after the repair work is done and the main water supply distribution system had stabilised," he said.
Air Selangor has advised consumers to store enough water and use it wisely during the disruption period.
"The emergency repair works involve a main distribution pipe of 2,200 milimeters in diameter that covers a large-scale distribution area.
"Therefore, the repairs and recovery period will take a longer time," he said.
Air Selangor stated that the duration of water disruption and restoration in affected areas may vary based on the location and the pressure of the water supply distribution system.
"Air Selangor will send water tankers to the affected areas whereas priority will be given to critical places such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funerals," he added.
