MACHANG - Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reveals the party has shortlisted a list of candidates who would be contesting in the upcoming state elections.

He said the list was the outcome of the discussion with the state liaison chairman.

"The final decision on the allocation of seats, in my opinion, could be solved before the announcement of the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly, paving the way for state polls.

"The meeting involving the Menteri Besar, Chief Minister, Sultan, and the State Yang Dipertua will be held at the end of June," he said during the press conference after attending the Felcra Berhad Mesra Aidilfitri Ceremony in Bukit Tiu on Saturday.

Also present was Felcra Chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub.

It was reported that the Unity government will finalise the seat allocation for the state elections among the coalition parties soon after the top grassroot leaders evaluate the list.

The BN chairman will sit down with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and observe all suggestions brought up on a state level.
