KL thunderstorm: 15 vehicles crushed by fallen trees

KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 15 vehicles were damaged by fallen trees due to thunderstorm, here, today.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said they received several emergency calls from MERS999 over reports of fallen trees before firemen were dispatched to the scene.

"We received calls from 10 locations from Jalan Kampung Attap, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Block 19 Taman Bukit Angkasa, Kepong Health Office, Jalan Ayer Jernih and Danau Kota flat.

"Other locations included Bayu Mont Kiara, Jalan Kelantan, Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang Orthopedic Hospital," he said in a statement, today.

The vehicles involved were 10 cars and multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) as well as five motorcycles.

He said there were also trees that fell on the road, obstructing traffic.

"The personnel involved in the operation are from Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Jalan Tun Razak BBP, Pantai BBP, Jinjang BBP, Setapak BBP and Wangsa Maju BBP.

"The rest are from Sri Hartamas BBP, Titiwangsa BBP and KLCC BBP," it said.
