ALOR SETAR - A total of 1,300 delegates from the Unity Government coalition are expected to attend the Kedah State Unity Convention at the Ampang Business Centre here on Sunday (May 21).

Kedah State Unity Government Leadership Council chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the convention is a platform for all party leaders to share information and views in preparation for the coming state polls.

"This convention can further strengthen the ties between BN (Barisan Nasional) and PH (Pakatan Harapan) to move another step forward to ensure we can carve out a victory in Kedah in the state polls.

"We have at least 60 more days for the state polls. So, we must meet and discuss not just at the top level but also go down to the ground to meet the second, third and grassroots levels from all 15 parliamentary constituencies in Kedah,” he told a media conference, here, today.

Mahdzir said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamid is expected to officiate the convention.

Meanwhile, Mahdzir hoped that the people of Kedah will give their trust to and vote for the unity government coalition in the coming state polls to ensure the Kedah state government is the same as the federal government in Putrajaya to facilitate all related matters.

"So far, the response (towards the unity government) has been encouraging because, through explanations from time to time, many have understood what the unity government is about,” he said. - BERNAMA
