SHAH ALAM - The covid cases in Tuaran are under control, as there are less than 100 cases a week in Sabah.

Malaysia Medical Association (MMA) President Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai said since the Covid-19 cases are declining, the health ministry no longer uses colour codes to monitor the number of cases.

"MMA has also been informed by our MMA Sabah branch that most cases there in Tuaran are mild and the situation is under control," he said to Sinar Daily.

Muruga further reminded that reinfection of Covid-19 will be common as the disease is still around.

However he said it was still necessary to take a few precautions to stay protected.

"Properly wear a face mask when in crowded cramped indoor spaces, continue the habit of handwashing with soap or hand sanitising often and get self tested if having symptoms.

"Those testing positive should immediately isolate and recover.

"Seek medical attention if having severe symptoms," he said.

Muruga also urged everyone to wear face mask when in the presence of those at high risk namely the elderly and those with comorbidities.
