When asked if Umno intends to negotiate conditions with Khairy, he said he won't be revealing any of the party's strategies.
"I will not reveal our strategies because if I do so it's no longer considered a strategy," he said in a press conference at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.
Zahid also said that Khairy has the right to accept any offer to join other political parties since the former Umno Youth chief is not part of Umno anymore.
"He (Khairy) has the right to join which ever party he wants, he's no longer a member of Umno," he said.
Yesterday, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin admitted to offering the position of Bersatu Supreme Council member to Khairy.
Muhyiddin who is also Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman revealed that he made the offer after the former health minister was sacked from Umno last January.
He said he made the offer after taking into account Khairy's ability to contribute in strengthening Bersatu in addition to Khairy being a young political figure of high calibre.
"Khairy and I had discussed about it for quite some time now, ever since he was sacked. He asked to meet me so we met to discuss openly about his political direction.
"In fact, he didn't ask to join the party, but I had offered it to him. The offer is still valid and I had asked him again when he attended the open house at my residence the other day.
"But Khairy has yet to decide. That's okay since we don't want to push him into making a decision, but Bersatu does hope that he will join us and help strengthen the party," he said.
