The Unity Government cannot fail like Muafakat Nasional
PONTIAN - All 19 coalition parties that form the Unity Government, including Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN), need to defend the coalition until the next general election (GE).
Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said, the failure of Muafakat Nasional (MN) ( a political coalition that was formed between Pas and Umno) should be used as a lesson so that the same mistakes does not get repeated in the the unity government coalition.
"The agreement for MN was signed on September 14, 2019, while the Unity Convention was held on May 14, and attended by members and leaders of various parties across the country, including Sabah and Sarawak, which witnessed a diversity of political parties and races coming together
"This situation is different from MN, where only the Malay and Muslim communities attended the Ummah Unification (Penyatuan Ummah) stage but did not succeed in achieving its expected goals," he said this after attending the Pontian division Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration event
On Sunday, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, inaugurated the Unity Government National Convention, which was the first since the establishment of the Unity Government six months ago.
The convention, involving nearly 10,000 delegates and supporters from 19 parties supporting the Unity Government, was held simultaneously with the Wanita, Youth, and Puteri Conventions.
