Speaker waiting for 'order' to dissolve Selangor state assembly
SEKINCHAN - Selangor State Legislative Assembly Speaker Ng Suee Lim is still waiting for the order and application letter for the dissolution of the state assembly from Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to pave the way for the state polls.
He said Amirudin is expected to seek an audience with Sultan Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, on the matter before the automatic dissolution on June 25.
"If the menteri besar seeks an audience with the Sultan and receives his approval, I will make sure everything else will run smoothly," he said when met at the officiation of Villa Chee Homestay and D’Bendang Seafood Restaurant at Villa Chee Sekinchan on Tuesday.
Ng, who is also a Sekinchan assemblyman, said the dissolution notice will be signed by him after receiving approval from Sultan Selangor.
"This notice would then be submitted to the Election Commission (EC) for the subsequent actions to hold the state election," he added.
He added that all the matters in the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly have been completed in two weeks after its commencement on March 14.
"This means that my duty as a Speaker to chair the state assembly meetings has also come to an end for term one.
"We are now just waiting for the right time to dissolve the state assembly, " he added.
Previously, Amirudin was expected to seek an audience with Sultan Sharafuddin on the third week of June to dissolve the state assembly.
Apart from Selangor, other states that will hold state elections this year are Kedah, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu, and Penang, as these states did not dissolve the state assembly when the 15th General Election was announced last year Nov.
