No restrictions on using loudspeakers outside suraus, mosques in Negeri Sembilan - deputy Mufti
SEREMBAN - There are no restrictions in Negeri Sembilan on using loudspeakers outside mosques or suraus to call to prayer, said that state deputy Mufti, Amran Awaludin.
He said no fatwa were issued to prohibit the use of such devices for these purposes.
He said the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Department (JHEINS) are responsible for establishing specific regulations and procedures related to the management of mosques in the state.
He told Sinar this when asked to comment on a video clip that displayed a dialogue session between a condominium's joint management body (JMB) in Tanjung Tokong in Penang with residents regarding current issues at the residence.
In the video clip, Muslim residents expressed their dissatisfaction when the condominium's JMB banned the usage of loudspeakers in an operational surau with the approval of the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIPP).
However, the issue has been resolved after the religious officials of the North-East district discussed with the condominium's JMB and the surau's management.
Amran advised the mosque and surau committees to take consideration of the public in the area before using the loudspeaker for any purposes other than call for prayer outside the mosque.
"This is to maintain the harmony of the multi-racial society in this country including taking care of the welfare of small children, the elderly and the sick as well as students revising their studies," he said.
