Cabinet to discuss 'Allah' ruling tomorrow, in depth solution needed, says Azalina
PUTRAJAYA - The Cabinet will discuss the issue on the 'Allah' ruling tomorrow with Umno ministers raising the issue, said Umno information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
She further said a comprehensive solution needs to be discussed and achieved, including a strong legal approach to bring the matter to the Federal Court, in addition to other legal approaches.
"This issue needs to be handled carefully as it involves sensitivities, religious freedom and racial harmony in this country," she said in a statement, today.
The Law Minister said Umno will continue its struggle towards upholding and defending Islam as the Federal religion and respect the principle of freedom of religion as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
The government and the Home Ministry on Monday reportedly withdrew the appeal on Kuala Lumpur High Court decision that Christians could use the word Allah, Baitullah, Kaabah and solat in their Christian religious material publications for educational purposes.
The judicial review appeal termination notice was filed by the Attorney-General's Chambers on April 18 at the Court of Appeal Registrar's Office in Putrajaya.
