KUALA LUMPUR - MIC urges all Malaysian women to prioritise nation building agenda to empower women.

MIC Wanita representative Datuk Mohana Muniandy said Malaysian women are catalysts for change as they make up half of the country's population.

"We must recognise that women's roles go beyond being mothers, wives, and household managers. They are leaders, workers, and entrepreneurs contributing to the national economy alongside men.

"Today, we witness a historic moment with our government convening on Mother's Day, alongside women from the unity government.

"The principles of Rukun Negara serve as the key to racial harmony and unity for Malaysia's stability. They aim to instill values within the community, encompassing religious values, loyalty to the king and country and to follow the constitution and laws," she said.

Mohana said this in speech at the Unity Government National Women Convention held at the World Trade Centre today.

The inaugural Unity Government National Convention happening today will be the best grounds to end any attempt to undermine the country’s political stability thus ensuring the government’s focus and efforts on the people.

The convention, expected to gather 10,000 delegates from 19 political parties from the Unity Government, takes place during the much-heated rumours of certain groups intent of toppling the government.

The Women's Convention will focus on critical issues such as the economy, nation building, and the role of women in Malaysia Madani.

Also present was the wife of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also the Bandar Tun Razak MP.

The event, themed 'Madani Mewajahi Masa Depan Malaysia,' will conclude with a message from the Chairman of the Unity Government Secretariat, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, followed by the announcement of the convention declaration.

Anwar previously said that the convention aims to establish a common direction and course of action for governing the country, fostering unified policies among the parties within the Unity Government.
