KOTA BHARU - It is not the time yet to discuss on the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) ticket services issues as the project has yet to be operational or fully complete.

Transport minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said he was confident that the government would set an affordable rate for the public.

"At the time we have yet to set prices. This is a government project for the people.

"It must have the Rahmah concept in mind that is to ensure it is affordable for the people," he told reporters when met after the ECRL First Station Construction Launching Ceremony in Tunjong here on Friday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was also in attendance.

In another development Loke said he was confident that the ECRL would be completed according to schedule.

He said this issue would be given attention by the Malaysian and Chinese government.

"The project management company placed under Malaysia Rail Link (MRL) will observe its development thoroughly.

"The contractor responsible is the China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) which is a reputable company from China," he said.

Loke added that the project's development would be discussed during the meeting between the Prime Minister and the Chinese government.

"I'm confident that the contractor would ensure the ECRL project will be completed according to schedule," he reiterated.
