Annapuranee Jenkins inquest: Coroner's court delivers open verdict

Coroner Norsalha Hamzah said the court found that the evidence presented as inconclusive or did not meet the required level to justify other decisions.
Norsalha said that based on the evidence presented, she could not determine the cause of death, the nature of the death, or find any elements of crime related to Jenkins' death.
"Although the post-mortem report confirmed that the body found was that of Jenkins, it was incomplete and the cause of death could not be determined,” she said.
Norsalha made the decision after hearing the testimonies of various parties throughout the inquest proceedings which began on March 28 last year.
Jenkins, who was born in Parit Buntar, Perak was on holiday in Penang in December 2017 with her husband Frank Jenkins when she was reported missing.
Her body was found on June 24, 2020 at a construction site close to where she was last seen alive.
Outside court, her son, Greg Jenkins, said he and his family were shocked by the verdict.
"We were hoping the Coroner will see all the gaps that will lead to a reinvestigation to find the cause of death.
"For now, I will be discussing with my sister on the next course of action. We are not going to stop seeking justice for mom,” he said -BERNAMA
