‘This is clearly a character assassination’- Wan Ahmad Fayhsal
FARHANA ABD KADIRSHAH ALAM - Bersatu Armada is urging the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to perform their duties professionally as the entity was seen as being used by others for a specific purpose.
Its chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said MACC’s actions was as if it was deliberately naming former home minister (Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin) in several corruption accusations involving a businessman.
These accusations seem to be intended to destroy the opposition's chief reputation.
“The accusations were put on another individual, but as its as if MACC is purposedly targeting the opposition chief for the purpose of shaming him and bringing down his image and credibility among the public.
“This is clearly a character assassination made to influence the public’s support which has been moving towards Perikatan Nasional (PN) especially nearing the state elections soon,” he said in a media statement on Thursday.
On May 10, former home minister Hamzah was confused when he said to be related to corruption case involving several projects under the ministry despite not being involved.
This follows MACC's placing four charges of corruption towards an individual named Datuk Seri Sim Choo Thiam.
Fayhsal claimed it was as if the government’s wanted to take away the public’s attention from current issues.
“MACC’s actions since the Pakatan Harapan and BN coalition government took over have been heavily criticised including the way the body handled the Judge Nazlan issue, which tarnished the image of the nation’s judicial institution,” he claimed
