SHAH ALAM - Bersatu Armada chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal criticises Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli's statement that the increase in the overnight policy rate (OPR) will push the government towards spending cautiously.

The Machang MP said the statement was ironic as the reality is that the government is already seen as wasting funds through the organisation of six Madani Open Houses at a national level.

"That's not including the other ministry open houses, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) - Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders, or the government-linked companies (GLCs) statutory bodies headed by both politicians who lost in the 15th general election (GE15)," he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Rafizi stated recently that the costs of open houses were much cheaper compared to those organised in Putrajaya because of their lower attendance and smaller scale.

He said the government would only bear the full costs for the open houses in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, while Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan were managed by the state government.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal also criticised Anwar, who vowed not to waste government money by organising such ceremonies.

"After taking his oath, he promised not to do so, but today it's different. What do you truly want to do for the people? Let's get this straight. Don't lie. You promised one thing and gave another.

"This is not Madani's nature," he stated.
