Man stabbed to death for hurling profanity, seven individuals arrested
SHUHADA ABDUL KADIRMELAKA - A verbal argument between a group of men dissatisfied over the use of profanity against a woman turned into tragedy when one of them was stabbed to death in an incident at Taman Kenanga early Tuesday morning.
In the incident at about 4am, the victim, a 35-year-old company manager in Bukit Rambai who uttered profanity that insulted the woman, died after being allegedly stabbed in the chest.
Melaka Tengah District Police Chief ACP Christopher Patit said preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred when the victim, believed to be drunk after partying, went to a stall near the scene of the incident to eat and drink with his friends.
"The commotion allegedly started when the victim was chatting with his friends about the breast size of a 26-year-old woman who was at the stall.
"The conversation was then overheard by the woman's bodyguard and boyfriend, who reprimanded the victim before the situation became intense, which resulted in pushing, punching, and stabbing the victim," he said in a statement today.
Commenting further, Patit said that, as a result of the stabbing, the victim collapsed and was unconscious before being taken to Melaka Hospital by two of his friends in a four-wheel drive.
The result of the post-mortem revealed that the man in question died due to the stab.
"The police have arrested seven individuals aged between 25 and 38 years old to assist in the investigation.
"A knife and an iron rod were purportedly used as weapons in the incident.
"The case is being investigated according to Section 302 of the Penal Code," he added.
