KUANTAN - "Ask the Prime Minister where he heard it," said Bersatu Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah.

He said this when asked about plots to topple the Unity government.

Saifuddin said this issue in regards to the change of government was brought up by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also PKR president, and is now a hot topic among the people.

"Where did he hear such stories of ‘figures’ or these ‘certain measures'? I only learned this from two sources.

"The first is from him (Anwar) who said it, and the second is from the people who are talking about it.

"To clear the air, we must ask the PM where he had such things and why the people are talking about a change of government," he said during a special press conference regarding the Pahang State Assembly meeting and preparations ahead of the state election at the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Secretariat Office here on Monday.

Also present were Pahang Opposition chief Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, Pahang Pas Commissioner Rosli Abdul Jabar and several Pas and Pahang Bersatu leadership.

The issue of a change of government previously started when the Unity government was newly established after the 15th general election (GE15).

On Feb 28, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang told the Dewan Rakyat during the Parliament session that the opposition could not be blamed if the unity government fell.

On May 3, Hadi defended his statement and pictured the change of government as the norm in politics.

On May 5, Anwar, in a press conference, voiced his confidence that the administration he led will remain complete until the next general election.

Recently, there were also reports that the opposition had obtained enough sworn declarations (SDs) and would name the prime minister candidate soon.
