Anwar arrives for the premier screening of ‘Anwar, The Untold Story’

KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is the inspiration for the movie ‘Anwar, The Untold Story’ arrives at the premier screening at Dadi Cinema in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.

The Tambun MP and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also the Bandar Tun Razak MP arrived at about 8.15pm for the screening.

The movie is scheduled to be screened at 9pm followed by a press conference with local and international media members at 10.30 pm. The prime minister would be watching the film with 258 VIPs from the entertainment industry, political figures, and celebrities.

Besides Anwar and his wife, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Communication and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, and Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Adam Adli were also seen arriving for the premiere screening.

Famous celebrities such as singer Datuk Seri Nurhaliza Tarudin, famous composer and singer Datuk Seri M Nasir, DMY Creation founder Datuk Mohamed Yusoff, actress Fauziah Ahmad Daud, famous lyricist Datuk Habsah Hassan, director Datuk Yusof Haslam, director Datuk David Teo and others also didn't miss the opportunity to watch the biopic, which is based on Anwar's true life events.

The movie, filmed by Indonesian director Viva Westi, stars actor Farid Kamil in the lead role as Anwar, while Acha Septriasa plays Dr Wan Azizah.

The story portrays Anwar's political career as he battles corruption in the country while going through challenges and struggles.

It is reported that real events in Anwar's life from the time he became finance minister in 1993 until his termination in 1998 served as inspiration for the story.

The film, produced by Bianglala Entertainment at a cost of RM10 million, was shot in Malaysia and Indonesia.

The public screening of ‘Anwar, The Untold Story’ will be shown in all major cinemas beginning May 18, 2023.
