KLANG - The Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has seized fake shoes worth RM800,000 in a raid at a warehouse in Taman Sejati, here on Monday.

The ministry's state chief enforcement officer Mohd Khairi Jamaludin said the syndicate had been selling fake branded shoes online for the past year.

"The fake shoes were imported and kept in storage rented by the syndicate before they were sold on social media," he said when met at the raid location.

He said the operations were done after several months of intelligence and complaints regarding the suspicious activity.

"We were forced to break down the door in the higher floors of the premise before finding 4,000 fake branded shoes of several brands that was against the Trademark Act 2019.

"A 31-year-old man believed to be the caretaker of the premises was arrested. The case is being investigated following Section 102(1)(c) of the Trademark Act 2019," he said.

Khairi added that all shoes were reportedly sold for between RM180 and RM400 for a pair throughout the country.

"We will investigate whether the syndicate had other networks and check on the owner renting out the premise.
