'Wait for next GE to change govt, not topple it midway' - Mat Sabu
MOHD ISKANDAR OTHMANBAYAN LEPAS - Any attempts made to topple the Unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are 'inappropriate and not good'.
In saying this, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said those who did not agree with the Unity government could change the government in the next general election.
He said those who were unsatisfied could critique and campaign for others while revealing the government’s weaknesses, but it had to be done through proper channels.
"If we have our weaknesses, show them and make your programmes. If the people accept it, then vote against us in the upcoming general election.
"That’s the best method; however, if our numbers are sufficient, then nothing could be done," he said after attending the Amanah Eid Open House here on Sunday.
He said this in response to Anwar's recent statement urging the opposition to bring a no confidence motion in the upcoming Parliament session.
Anwar stated he was not like the previous prime ministers, who avoided confrontation and staged the question of who has legitimacy in Parliament.
He said that he was prepared to face the motion in the May session of Parliament.
Mohamad said that he agrees with Anwar’s stand to challenge any party in Parliament if they have the required sworn declaration (SD) to form a new government and topple the current government.
